The 6th J-HPH SPRING SEMINAR (ONLINE by Zoom Webinar) Japanese only
March 6, 2021 (Sat) 14:00~15:50 JST
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought us an unlimited impact not only in biological aspect as communicative disease but also by aggravating everyday life of people with growing financial difficulties and solitary. We have seen the damage concentrating especially on the people who are socially marginalized.
Given the circumstances, we are going to invite Mr. Goro KOTOU (Secretary General, Japan Advocacy Network for Drug Policy/Social Worker) for this year’s Spring Seminar to give a talk on “Harm Reduction.” Harm Reduction is an approach based on the perspectives of public health and human rights, in which actions are taken to reduce harms on drug user’s lives and health status without forcing them to make changes while understanding that they are also a member of the society.
Under the pandemic, the troubled situation of the addicted people is getting more and more serious as well. This will be an opportunity for us to learn how to overcome stigma and provide health services in protection of human rights together with practices of health promotion.
